John “Craig” Moore passed away at his home in Flinton, Ontario, on January 16, 2026.
A retired carpenter who took great pride in his craft, Craig was a man of simple interests who valued the privacy and quiet of his home in the woods. While he preferred the solitude of the trees to the bustle of town, he enjoyed attending local cruise nights and car shows to admire the classic cars and chat with like-minded enthusiasts. This passion for machinery extended to NASCAR and his younger days spent snowmobile racing—a hobby that grew into cherished family memories for his daughters, Shaunna and Melanie, as they spent their winters riding around the cottage with their dad. During those younger years, the quiet of the cottage was often balanced by his love for classic rock, which he always made sure to play on only the loudest of stereos.
Whether he was cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs or simply enjoying his own space, Craig lived life with an independent spirit and a quiet strength.
Craig was known for being outspoken and firm in his convictions, and though he carried a rough and tough exterior, he was a good man with a deep heart for those he loved. He was the proud father of Shaunna (Sean) Pudlis and Melanie (Bruno) Courcy, and a devoted grandfather to Kiersten and Rylee Pudlis, and Caitlyn Courcy. Craig was always happiest watching his daughters and granddaughters shine, taking immense pride in their accomplishments with a quiet, steady acceptance that never asked for anything in return. He shared this same loyalty with his partner, Carlyn Vine, and her family. He formed a natural, lasting bond with her children, Billy and Steven Vine, and loved her grandchildren—Ryan, Ethan, Dylan, and Breylynn Vine—as his very own.
Craig was the brother of Kelly (Robin) Moore, and was predeceased by his siblings Cathy and Peter. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Liz and Matt, Emily and Sara, and Taylor and Morgan.
A small memorial will be held at Burke Funeral Home (150 Church St, Belleville, Ontario) on Saturday, January 24th, 2026, from 2-4pm. To help keep Craig’s memory alive in their hearts, the family warmly invites those who knew him to bring a favorite story, a photograph, or a fond memory to share with Carlyn, Shaunna, and Melanie during the gathering.
