It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of John Alexander Lennox Houston, in his 72nd year. John was a wonderful, dedicated husband and father, and a friend to many. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Andrea (Stephens), daughters Chelsea (Shawn) and Rebecca (James), his eldest sister and brother-in-law, Janis and Michael Perkin, and his family cats, Porscha, Cinnamon, and Peachy. He was preceded in death by his parents Lennox and Elizabeth (Sutherland) Houston, and sisters Hazel and Gail Houston. He will be missed by his in-laws, Bill, and Linda Hollaway, as well as friends, Jamie and Kathy Hamilton. John enjoyed so much that this life and world have to offer. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, working on his passion projects, exploring nature, and listening to good music. John was a skilled truck and trailer mechanic for 50 years before retiring in December 2024. He could fix anything that needed fixing, had a memory as sharp as a tack, and loved to have fun. Above all, John was happiest when with his family. He cared for his wife and daughters fiercely, putting them first always. Heaven must’ve needed a handyman to have taken him so soon.
Family and friends are invited to the Burke Funeral Home, 150 Church Street, Belleville on Monday, May 4 from 2 – 4 pm, to celebrate John’s life. There will be a tribute to John held between 2:30-3 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Wildlife Federation or to the Humane Society Hastings Prince Edward would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be shared at www.BurkeFuneral.ca
