Skidmore, John Astley James passed away peacefully at the Campbellford Memorial Hospital on January 25th, 2026 at the age of 81 years. Beloved husband of June Skidmore. Loving father of Clint (Kelli), Jason (Kristina), Shane, Amanda (Keith) and Julie (Josh). Cherished grandfather of Taylor, Cassie, Emma, Nathan, Aiden, Avery, Lucas, Riley, Jack, Emmett, Lily and Eli. Loving brother to Margie (Deceased), Ronald (Deceased), and Penny. John is predeceased by his parents Arthur & Dorthy Skidmore. John lived a life defined by unwavering devotion to his family, whom he placed above all else. He was the steadfast anchor for his loved ones, always ready with support, advice, or simply his presence. His greatest joy came from creating memories with them, at his home on the Trent River where he found peace in the water, the quiet mornings, and the endless summer days. The River was more than a place—it was his happy retreat, a spot where he relaxed, and shared countless laughs with family and friends. Above all, John had a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room with his quick wit, playful teasing, and ability to find the funny side of life left everyone smiling, even on tough days. He taught us to laugh often and love deeply. As per John’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will take place at a late date.
