POIRIER, Jane Anne (nee SEGUIN)….May 4, 1948 – June 1, 2026
We are deeply saddened to announce that Jane passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2026, in the ICU at Belleville General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and best friend. Born in Ottawa to the late Leo and Betty Seguin, Jane grew up in an RCAF family, moving to Quebec and Ontario before settling on Prince Edward Island. It was there she met the love of her life and husband of 49 years, the late Joseph (Emile) Poirier.
Jane was a pillar of patience, joy, and love. Known for her welcoming smile, legendary laugh, and excellent jokes, she brightened every room. She retired after a proud 30+ year career with the Department of National Defence, where she was frequently asked to emcee events. She was highly creative, gifting beautiful knitted blankets to many, and was renowned for her famous Christmas fudge deliveries to local first responders.
Jane was the deeply loved mother-figure to Glenn Poirier (Christine Campbell), Earl Poirier (Marlene), and Janey Trischler (Tony). She was predeceased by her husband Emile in 2019, parents and her siblings William, Penelope, Diane, her nephew Kevin Glynn and her brother-in-law Wayne Poirier. She leaves behind a legacy of love in her surviving in-laws, nieces, nephews as well as her large, adoring extended family of cousins who will always cherish their “Aunt Jane.”
The family would like to say a special thank you to the nurses and doctors of both Trenton Memorial Hospital, and to the Belleville General Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 20, 2026 at 1 PM at the Weaver life Centre 29 Bay St., Trenton.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation/Palliative care unit. Online condolences at www.weaverfuneralhomes.com.
“ SHE HELD OUR HANDS FOR A WHILE AND OUR HEARTS FOREVER”
