Gwendolyn (Gwen) Margaret May (nee Ketcheson) passed away peacefully in her 95th year, on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Quinte Hospice after a short illness. Gwen was born December 23, 1930 to parents Hudson (Happy) and Nellie Ketcheson of Wallbridge, Ontario. Predeceased by her husband and soul mate Garnet May (1983). She is survived by children Penny (late Len Harris), Rodney May (Donna), Melanie (Wayne Barr), Lori (Dan Buckley) and Brian May (Hilary). She was dearly loved by her 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Gwen was a long time employee of Sears Canada. Music and dancing were both passions of Gwen’s. Garnet and Gwen were members of the Quinte Twirlers Square Dancing Club. Upon the passing of Garnet, she became a member of Sweet Adelines Quinte and later Durham Shores for over 30 years. As well, she was a long time member of Westminster United Church Choir. All who knew her always remarked on her infectious smile and kind heart. She will be deeply missed by her family and all those who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Burke Funeral Home at 1200 on 28 October, 2025. Visitation will commence at 1030, prior to the service. A reception will follow the Celebration of Life. A private family internment of cremated remains will be held following the reception. Special thanks go to the caring staff of Hospice Quinte for their kindness to Gwen and her family as she travelled on her final journey. If desired, donations may be made to Hospice Quinte or a charity of your choice
