Heuving (deJong), Greta Alice – born on October 27, 1939 in Hoogeveen, Holland, entered into rest at her home on July 19th, 2025, at the age of 85. Beloved wife of the late Garry Heuving. They were married on July 28th, 1962 and would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Cherished mother of Michael (Susan) Heuving, and Ed Heuving. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Andrea (Tommy), Sarah (Brady), and Adam (Jess). Dear great-grandmother of Ashlyn. Greta lived in Hijken, Drenthe, until 1949 when she immigrated to Canada with her parents Meint and Aafke deJong, and Opa deJong. The family settled in the Campbellford area where she went to Rystone Public School (starting in grade three). In 1953, the family moved to the Oak Hills area where she attended River Valley Public School and Stirling High School. Greta also attended night school at B.C.I. for three years. Greta worked at Vagden Mills until Michael was born. She then stayed home to raise her family and had another son Edward. Garry and Greta also had 6 foster children. During this time Greta was also in charge of printing the bulletins for Maranatha Church, teaching Sunday School and was also a personal secretary to Pastor Getkate. Greta then became manager/administrator at Parkside Village for 20 years, retiring in 2004. After retiring, Greta cared for her father Meint. Greta and Garry moved into the house in Oak Hills after her dad passed away. Memorial Service to be held at Maranatha Church, 100 College Street West, Belleville, on Saturday, July 26th, 2025 at 12 noon, with visitation at the church one hour prior to service. Private inurnment Elmwood Cemetery, Corbyville. If desired, donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Grace Inn or New Life Women’s Home would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Steele Funeral Home, Belleville.
