It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Elmer George Cruickshank in his 80th year. Dear Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. With his wishes he remained at home throughout his courageous battle of cancer and was surrounded by his loved ones until his passing. Survived by his beloved wife Maureen (Plews) of 60+ years, daughter Lisa & family, daughter Debbie Akey (Rick), grandson Brett Akey (Madison), granddaughter Alexis Akey (Cody) and great grand children Cameron and Olivia. Predeceased by his parents Clayton and Mable (Henry) Cruickshank, brother Glenn Cruickshank and sister Carol Haisma and Jake. Survived by sister-laws Beth Cruickshank and Florence Lynch and brother in-law Larry Plews (Mary Anne). Elmer enjoyed watching Baseball and hockey and played both in his younger years. He strived to enjoy life to the fullest.
Friends are invited to the Burke Funeral Home, 150 Church Street, Belleville on Sunday, April 19 from 2 – 6pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 399 Victoria Ave. Belleville, on Monday, April 20 at 11:00 am. Interment at Holy Name of Mary Cemetery, Marysville.
