It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of one of the kindest, most talented, and selfless human beings the world has ever known, Donna, on Monday, November 17, 2025 surrounded by her family at Belleville General Hospital.
In a poetic and poignant reunion, Donna departed this life exactly 32 years to the day after the loss of her beloved husband, Al Wilson. We take comfort in the hope that they have found each other once again and are celebrating a joyful family reunion with all those we have lost.
Beloved daughter of the late Mabel and Emmett Guilfoyle, Donna was a warrior in every sense of the word. After losing her husband early in life, she raised her two boys, Ben and Liam, entirely on her own. She faced life with resilience, never backing down and never giving up on what she set out to do. She was the rock of our family and the example of strength we all strive to follow.
For the past four and a half years, she fought a courageous battle against Stage IV cancer. Despite the odds, her unwavering positivity and outlook on life allowed her to maintain a high quality of life and remain in the comfort of her own home for the duration of her illness.
She will be deeply missed by her loving sons, Ben and Liam Wilson, daughter-in-law Erin and granddaughter Penny. She leaves behind her devoted sister, Ann Blair, and brother-in-law, Gary Blair, who were instrumental in providing support and ensuring she had everything she required. She is remembered and missed by the entire Guilfoyle Family clan and whose memory will be cherished by all.
Her journey was made lighter by the faithful companionship of her fur babies, Mr. Magoo, and Bella, who stayed by her side and provided constant comfort throughout her battle.
Donna was a wonderful friend to many, and the family wishes to thank those who went above and beyond to brighten her final years. A special thank you to Jane Reynolds and Cheryl Kelly, who made a point of weekly visits and fun activities to keep her spirits high and break the monotony of the journey. Deep gratitude is also extended to her childhood friend, Susan Amodeo; though living in another country, Susan remained a constant presence through regular FaceTime calls that Donna always looked forward to.
We are forever grateful to the medical teams that made it possible for Mom to stay at home. Heartfelt thanks to the PSWs, nurses, physiotherapists, and staff at Quinte Health, Bayshore Healthcare, and Hospice Quinte Palliative Care. We also thank Dr. Chooback and Staff of the Belleville Oncology Department of the Belleville General Hospital and the teams at Hotel Dieu and Kingston General Hospital in Kingston Ontario. Without you, this journey would not have been possible.
As per Donna’s wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no service at this time but there will be a Spring celebration of life, donations would be appreciated to Fixed Fur Life and Belleville Oncology Department.
We will miss you so much, Mom. We will love and cherish your precious soul, the lessons you taught us, and the memories you gave us. You were loved by so many, and we will see you again one day.
Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near, Still loved, still missed, and very dear.
May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face; The rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again, May peace hold you close.
