Alfred Gordon Linkie passed away peacefully on Saturday February 1, 2025 at his home in Hastings Manor, Belleville, Ontario.
Beloved son of Frank and Jean (née Steele) Linkie. Predeceased by his loving wife of 35 years Della (nee Hood). Survived by siblings Hazel Conley-Dainard and Irvin (Helen) and predeceased by sisters Violet Coghlan (Victor), Dorothy Coghlan (Tom), Doreen Porcheron (Robert) and brother Ken (Marilyn – nee Jessup). He will be lovingly remembered by all of his family most notably his sister, brother, sister-in-laws Helen Linkie and Barb O’Leary and a significant number of nieces and nephews. Alfred, or Alfie as he was affectionately referred by almost all his acquaintances was born and raised in Wicklow Township just north of Maynooth, Ontario. His rural upbringing no doubt influenced his artistic side which helped inspire his many beautiful paintings that he created over the years. As a young man he moved to “the County” and lived in Carrying Place with his loving wife and soul mate Della while working at Pyrotenax for 35.5 years. He retired February 1, 1998.
Friends may call at the Weaver Family Funeral Home at 29 Bay St., Trenton on Thursday February 6, 2025 from 12:00 – 1:00pm, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm. Cremation will follow and burial will take place at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Maynooth at a later date. The family would like to thank the wonderful and supportive staff at Hastings Manor for all the excellent care over the past four years and also the doctors and nursing staff at Belleville Memorial Hospital.
