Belleville’s Planning Committee has given the green light to development of a section of the Settler’s Ridge lands in Thurlow Ward. Last night the committee approved some zoning changes to the parcel of land, north of Maitland Drive and backing on to the Trans Northern Line right of way. Although the housing mix changed slightly, the subdivision will still be 86-units. Thurlow Ward councillor Taso Christopher asked that some commercial sites be incorporated in the future phases of Settler’s Ridge to allow people to walk to the stores instead of always depending on their cars. The rezoning now goes to City Council for final approval.
