Parents in a North Hastings community are fighting a move that has sent their grade six students to a Bancroft school. Busing is an issue for the Hermon Public School parents…who say their children now spend two hours or more a day on a bus with high school students. And now Hermon has to have a triple grade…grades 1,2,3. In letters to the Hastings and Prince Edward School board parents say they had no input into this decision. One family says its eleven year old boy has been “traumatized.” They say there is no soccer field at the Bancroft school, and more bullying and verbal abuse. Parents appeared before the school board last night.
