Belleville City Council voted in favour of two housing applications under the Community Improvement Plan in their meeting on Tuesday.
First, council approved a $450,000 grant for Aldersgate Homes Inc., which is now building a new apartment building behind an existing one in Aldersgate Village.
The new building, to be known as Epworth Place, will feature 84 apartments, including 46 affordable units with 28 being accessible.
The $28-million building is expected to open for seniors sometime next year.
Meanwhile, council also voted in favour of approving a total of $132,858.50 for Belleville Affordable Housing Solutions L.P.
This would help facilitate the development of a 95-unit rental apartment building containing thirty affordable dwelling units and thirty accessible units.
