A Gofundme has been started for the second Belleville Police officer to respond to the September 20th Sons of Jacob Synagogue shooting.
Constable Mike McCurdy arrived on the scene after Constable Jeff Smith had already been shot and wounded. McCurdy joined the shootout between the suspect and the wounded officer, helping to bring the incident to a close.
The fundraiser, on behalf of the Jewish community, seeks to show gratitude to McCurdy for his role in stopping a mass casualty event before it started. The page also notes the importance of mental hetalth and recovery.
