“Quinte Immigration Services condemns all forms of violence, xenophobia, racism, discrimination, and hate crimes.
Our agency is deeply concerned by the violent shooting that occurred in our community at the Sons of Jacob Synagogue, and we extend our thoughts and support to those affected.
Violence and hatred have no place in our communities. No one should be targeted, threatened, or made to feel unsafe because of their nationality, faith or religion, culture, immigration status, race, ethnicity, or place of origin.
As an organization committed to building welcoming, inclusive, and equitable communities, we believe everyone has the right to live, work, and participate in community life with dignity and without fear. We stand with the Jewish community and immigrant communities we serve—who may feel particularly vulnerable in the wake of this incident.
We encourage everyone in our community to reject xenophobia and racist rhetoric, avoid assumptions or generalizations about individuals or communities, and respond to one another with compassion, respect, and solidarity.
The Quinte Local Immigration Partnership, a program of QUIS, has an Anti-Racism Sub-Committee made up of community partners that provides education and awareness to community agencies around belonging, anti-racism, and allyship. This work also supports efforts to address anti-xenophobia and discrimination through an intersectional lens.
