The Bancroft overnight warming centre will continue to be operated by Hastings County.
In May, Hastings County Council approved issuing an expression of interest for a local partner to take over day-to-day operations of the warming centre, with continued county oversight of the project. That expression-of-interest project returned before council during Thursday’s meeting with the only response being from Integrity Investigative Solutions Ltd., the security company currently providing operations at the centre.
Since April, Hastings County has continued uninterrupted operations of the centre, with a focus on providing overnight shelter for those experiencing chronic homelessness.c The centre currently serves a regular group of the same individuals each night.
As a result of the lack of submissions, operations are set to continue at the site under the current model.
