Prince Edward County Council has approved a youth engagement initiative.
During Tuesday’s meeting, council discussed the initiative, which is intended to help make youth feel more connected to the community, in order to help encourage young adults from leaving the area.
The proposed youth engagement plan is based around 5 pillars, which are increasing available career opportunities, creating youth friendly municipal services, increasing youth engagement, providing adult allies, and community mobilization. The measures under those pillars are expected to cost $30,000, which is to be included in the upcoming draft 2027 budget.
Council voted to approve the plan, after a brief discussion.
