Violence at Sons of Jacob Synagogue
Quinte Health’s Board of Directors met at North Hastings Hospital Tuesday and
CEO Stacey Daub led off with a tribute to everyone involved in the horrible events of
Sunday night at Sons of Jacob Synagogue.
Daub called the violence a shock to not only the Jewish community but to the wider
community as well.
She commended Quinte Health’s medical staff for their professionalism and humanity as
they provided care under extraordinarily difficult circumstances.
Daub also praised the support of healthcare partners and ordinary citizens shown to staff at BGH.
Values in action
Three North Hastings Hospital doctors have been awarded the Board’s Values in Action Award
for their efforts in supervising and mentoring internationally trained doctors.
Drs. Alex Ferreira, Parambir Keila, and Micayla Ahearn have taken on extra work mentoring
the newly arrived physicians through a 12 week program offered through the province’s Practice
Ready Ontario program.
Their work has led to 3 new physicians starting practice in Bancroft.
Recruitment
Quinte Health is always looking to hire.
A report to the Board of Directors Tuesday shows some success recruiting
doctors for the emergency and anesthesia departments at North Hastings Hospital
and Belleville General.
However there are still staffing shortages at Trenton Memorial in connection with
the emergency, orthapedics, and Internal Medicine departments.
On a positive not for Quinte Health two new internists will begin work in the new year.
