The 46th annual Bay of Quinte Terry Fox Run was held in West Zwick’s Park on Sunday.
Organizer Vicki Samaras spoke to the crowd as they prepared for their walk around the park to raise money for cancer research.
“You guys keep Terry’s legacy alive,” said Samaras. “We’re still receiving diagnoses, all of us, all the time – family members, loved ones, friends. So we still need to fundraise.”
She also highlighted how this year’s event had nearly hit its fundraising goal before it began.
“I have to tell you one other statistic. We’ve already raised 90% of our goal as of right now online, and that’s never happened. We had a lot of cheques, a lot of cash, and T-shirt sales. T-shirts are sold out, by the way,” said Samaras.
Donations are still being tallied with all proceeds going towards cancer research.
