The federal government and Campfire Circle announced an investment of $27 million on Thursday to build a medical camp in Prince Edward County for kids with cancer or serious illnesses.
Bay of Quinte MP Chris Malette joined Secretary of State for Sport Adam Van Koeverden and University-Rosedale MP Dr. Danielle Martin for the announcement on Parliament Hill on Thursday.
In a release, the federal government says the new facility will include an activity centre, dining hall, accessible recreational facilities, creative and cultural program spaces, and equestrian facilities.
Campfire Circle is a charity providing free year-round programs for kids with cancer or serious illness and their families, in paediatric hospitals across Ontario and at their two medically supported overnight camps in Muskoka and Waterford.
The federal government says that funding for the medical camp comes from the Build Communities Strong Fund.
