The Tyendinaga Police Service, along with the OPP and specialized enforcement units, has shut down a major illegal cannabis production operation on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
On September 9, 2026, officers executed a search warrant on Lower Slash Road, seizing over 5,500 illicit plants and 34 kilograms of cannabis shake valued at nearly $2.8 million total.
Police also seized nearly $1,900 in Canadian currency and ten cellular devices during the operation.
Eight individuals—seven from the Greater Toronto Area and one local resident—face charges under the Cannabis Act, including illegal cultivation and possession for distribution.
Police officials made it clear they will not tolerate outside criminal networks entering the territory to exploit community lands for financial gain.
