The driver of a transport truck involved in a collision that sent two paramedics to hospital was charged by Ontario Provincial Police on Monday.
On Monday, February 2, 2026, shortly after 3:00 p.m., members of the Central Hastings OPP responded to a two‑vehicle collision that resulted in two paramedics being transported to a local hospital.
Both were later airlifted to a Kingston area trauma centre by ORNGE due to life-threatening injuries.
On Monday, 34-year-old Sajeevarnan Balasubramaniam of Milton was charged with the following offences:
- Dangerous operation causing bodily harm- two counts
- Criminal negligence cause bodily harm- two counts
- Careless driving causing bodily harm- two counts
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
