Four new doctors have been signed to the City of Belleville’s doctor recruitment program.
Their contracts were confirmed at Belleville City Council’s meeting on Monday.
Dr. Prasadika Labutale, a family physician, and Dr. Namal Labutale, a psychiatrist, have signed agreements with the City and will establish their practices at the Magnus Health Centre, located at 274 Dundas St. E.
Both are from the United Kingdom and are relocating to Belleville.
In the meantime, Dr. Sara Haq has been signed to the program.
She is currently a Queen’s University Family Medicine resident and is working towards her full license by the end of 2027.
Finally, Belleville native Dr. Mary Hoekstra is staying in the region.
Dr. Hoekstra recently completed her residency training in Family Medicine, and will be starting this fall as a Primary Care Physician at the new Belleville Neighbourhood Clinic, affiliated with Belleville and Quinte West Community Health Centre.
While healthcare and physician recruitment are not a municipal responsibility, the City of Belleville has recruited more than 70 physicians and ten nurse practitioners.
Residents who need a family physician or a nurse practitioner are being asked to register with Health Care Connect (HCC).

Dr. Prasadika Labutale, a family physician, and Dr. Namal Labutale, a psychiatrist, have signed agreements with the City and will establish their practices at the Magnus Health Centre, located at 274 Dundas St. E.

Dr. Haq is currently a Queen’s University Family Medicine Resident and is working toward her full license by the end of 2027. As an International Medical Graduate, Dr. Haq is anxious to start her family medicine career here in Belleville.
