Greater Napanee Council approved a new revised floor plan for the new community space at Town Hall.
In a press release sent on Wednesday, the town says that the updated layout has been designed to maximize the functionality of the building and support a wide range of community uses, including meetings, events, exhibitions, and community programming while preserving the unique character of the historic building.
A breakdown of the new floor plan can be found below:
New washroom facilities will be located in the northwest corner of the building and will include one fully accessible washroom and two standard washrooms.The event space will be separated from the entrance hall by a lockable, fire-rated glazed door. As part of the design concept, the glass panels may feature the Town logo and a local iconic scene that would be applied to the glass for both the operable panel and the fixed panel.Inside the event space, flexibility and durability are key priorities. Luxury vinyl plank flooring has been selected for its ease of maintenance and its resemblance to the traditional plank floors commonly found in buildings of this age. Architectural details, including 10-inch built-up baseboards, wide window trim, and deep wood windowsills, have been incorporated to reflect the historic character of the building.Around the perimeter of the event space, a picture rail will be installed at the top of the windows. The picture rail will allow the Town to display rotating work of local artists by hanging artwork with chains to account for various sized pieces to be displayed at the optimal height for viewing while limiting damage to the walls. The picture rail will also allow event coordinators to hang backdrops anywhere in the space to give focus to an event or artist.Additional amenities within the event space will include a coffee bar and coat closet, providing added convenience for event organizers and user groups. Storage space for tables, chairs, cleaning supplies, and other equipment will be located in the southwest corner of the building, helping to support efficient operations and event setup.The Lennox & Addington Chamber of Commerce will occupy a dedicated office in the southeast corner of the building near the main entrance, ensuring a visible within the facility.The design reflects the Town’s commitment to creating a welcoming and functional community space that can accommodate meetings, events, exhibitions, and community programming while preserving the unique character of the historic building.
