Prince Edward County Mayor Steve Ferguson is putting forward a motion at Tuesday’s meeting of Prince Edward County Council, calling on the province to increase a rebate the municipality gets for HST spent.
In his motion, Mayor Ferguson outlines that while the federal government returns 100 per cent of their portion of HST collected from the municipality to the municipality, the province only returns 78 per cent as a rebate.
He is calling for the province to return the full amount, providing municipalities with more funding they can use to maintain local infrastructure.
Council will meet and discuss the motion at 7:00 p.m.
