The Hastings Prince Edward District School Board says it is welcoming 70 students from 12 different countries through its international student program for the new school year.
In a post to its website, the school board says that some students will be taking classes for one semester, while others will be taking classes for the full school year.
Students will be attending Bayside, Centennial and Eastside secondary schools and will be living with host families assigned by HPEDSB.
The whole group met at the Education Centre on Tuesday for orientation, along with volunteer Canadian Student Ambassadors from the participating secondary schools.
HPEDSB says that the International Student Program offers “a positive educational and cultural experience for international students, while also providing opportunities for Canadian students, school staff, host families and the local community to engage with and appreciate other cultures.”
The program is entering its 26th year.
