David Earl MacDonald
February 3, 1962 – August 19, 2026
According to his wishes, David passed peacefully at home on Wednesday August 19th, 2026, with his family present and his cherished wife Dawn Elizabeth (Potts) in his arms after a very brief encounter with cancer. He has joined his angel baby son and his parents Raymond and Lois MacDonald in heaven. David was 64 years old, he is survived by his life partner of 48 years, Dawn. They had just celebrated 39 years of marriage on August 1, 2026. He will be forever loved and missed by her.
David was the proud and loving father of Sarah MacDonald (Derek Fraser) and Scott MacDonald (Meghan Petherick).
As a grandpa, “Ducky” was so proud of his cherished grandchildren; Taylor Elizabeth and Jacob Gregory Fraser, and his “Goofy” grand-dog Levy.
David was employed at Moore Business Forms (RR Donnelly, DCM) in Trenton, Ontario for 43 years until it closed in 2024. He was just beginning his retirement and loved greeting the neighbours as they walked their dogs while he tinkered in the garage or tended to the yard work. Throughout his life he enjoyed family gatherings at his home and at his trailer on East Lake. He looked forward to his 4 wheeling times at West Palmerston cottages. He enjoyed a good bonfire! His passions included boating, tubing, fishing, 4-wheeling, dirt biking, camping, snowmobiling, and motorcycle rides with his work buddies. If it had a motor… he was into it! Dave was a “fix it” guy and was always helping his family and friends.
He cherished and polished his prized possession, a 1992, short-box, step-side Chevy truck.
David is survived by his brother Ken MacDonald (Cathy) and their daughters, his remarkable nieces – Selena Rosillo (Tim) and Dana Kerr (Jay) and their families, his sister Lorie Stevenson (Terry) and their sons, his exceptional nephews – Curtus Stevenson (Lindsay) and Nathan Stevenson (Jessica) and their families. His legacy and love for them will live on forever.
He was a “cherished cousin” to Joan and Bob Casselman and their family.
David was adored by his sister-in-law “Ali” (Kristen Alison Potts), whom he cherished so much.
Son -in-law to Connie Potts (predeceased by Don).
Brother-in law to Justin (Yelena), Bruce (Denise), Steven (Zaina), and fondly remembered by their children.
He will sadly be missed by many relatives on both sides of the family tree, special friends; Bill, Carl (Helen), Larry (Francine) and many of the neighbours in Bay Breeze, co-workers, camping buddies and acquaintances; old and new.
