The Ontario government has announced it is investing $2,558,109 to complete upgrades and repairs at Quinte Health hospitals.
A release from the office of Bay of Quinte MPP Tyler Allsopp on Monday says the funding will support a number of initiatives across the Quinte region including the rehabilitation of the helipad and the replacement of a nurse call system at North Hastings Hospital, roof replacement and repair, flooring replacement and new public address, security, staff duress systems, patient wandering alerts at Belleville General Hospital, and roof and flooring replacement at Trenton Memorial Hospital.
The funding is part of Ontario’s broader investment of over $266 million through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund to support infrastructure upgrades, maintenance and repairs at 126 hospitals across the province.

The Ontario government is investing $2,558,109 to complete upgrades and repairs at Quinte Health hospitals, creating a safer, more comfortable space for people and their families to connect to care
and services, close to home. This funding is part of Ontario’s broader investment of over $266 million through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund (HIRF) to support infrastructure upgrades, maintenance and repairs at 126 hospitals across the province.The funding will support the rehabilitation of the helipad and the replacement of a nurse call system at North Hastings Hospital, roof replacement and repair, flooring replacement and new public address, security, staff duress systems and patient wandering alerts at Belleville General Hospital, and roof and flooring replacement at Trenton Memorial Hospital.
“Through the HIRF, our government is ensuring that Quinte Health has modern, comfortable hospital facilities in each community it serves, supporting better patient care outcomes and operational efficiencies,” said Tyler Allsopp, MPP for Bay of Quinte. “This, coupled with earlier announcements to upgrade power and HVAC systems at Belleville General Hospital, represents significant investment in our communities.”
“People deserve to know that when they need care, their local hospital is ready for them. This investment is about making sure our health-care system has the critical infrastructure to provide that care safely and effectively,” added Hastings – Lennox and Addington MPP Ric Bresee. “We have a responsibility to invest wisely, to get value for taxpayers and to make decisions that strengthen our communities. Upgrading the facilities for Quinte Health Care is exactly that kind of investment — putting people first, supporting our health-care workers and ensuring families can count on quality care close to home.”
The Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund enables health-care system partners to address their urgent infrastructure needs including upgrading or replacing roofs, windows, security systems, fire alarms and emergency generators. Since 2024, the Ontario government has increased funding through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund by 10 per cent each year, allowing even more hospitals to complete upgrades and repairs in a timely manner.
“Our government is making historic investments to protect Ontario’s health-care system, ensuring that more people in Hastings and Prince Edward counties can connect to the care they need, where and when they need it,” said Sylvia Jones, Deputy Premier and Minister of Health. “This investment will enable Quinte Health to address priority infrastructure needs so patients and their families can continue to access vital services and care in their community.”
Stacey Daub, Quinte Health’s President and Chief Executive Officer, welcomed the funding.
“Investments in hospital infrastructure are ultimately investments in patient care,” said Daub. “For a rural hospital like North Hastings, reliable infrastructure is especially important. From replacing the nurse call system that connects patients directly with their care teams, to rehabilitating the helipad that provides a critical link to specialized care when every minute matters, these investments will help ensure North Hastings
Hospital can continue providing safe, high-quality care close to home.”
Over the next 10 years, Ontario is investing approximately $64 billion in major health infrastructure. This is part of the government’s plan to get shovels in the ground on more than 50 major hospital projects across the province, which will deliver approximately 3,000 new hospital beds to enhance access to quality care and build a connected, people-first health-care system.
Across Ontario, the government has committed over $281 million this year to support critical upgrades and repairs at 126 hospitals and 67 community health-care facilities across the province, including over $266 million through the HIRF and nearly $15 million through the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund (CIRF).
