Hood, Allen Dale passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, at the age of 69 years.
Allen was born in Toronto, Ontario on December 1, 1956. He grew up in a very small family on a dairy farm, where he was put to work at a young age. Allen was the youngest in his family and grew up alongside his older sister, Rose. At the age of 31, Allen left home and moved into a group home on Marmora Street in Trenton, supported by Community Living Quinte West. He lived there for approximately two years before moving into his own apartment through the SIL Program. In June 1998, Allen moved to an apartment where he could access staff support for things such as paying bills and budgeting. Allen was very independent. He did his own grocery shopping, personal shopping, and attended all of his medical appointments. He thoroughly enjoyed delivering newspapers every Thursday and would complete the entire route on foot, despite it being quite long. He enjoyed walking everywhere. Allen took great pride in all of his employment. He worked at ARC Industries until it closed, and later had a brief period of employment at Tim Hortons.
Allen was predeceased by his loving sister Rose and will be missed by his brother-in-law Allen Burns; his nephews James, Jeffrey, and Joshua; his niece Julianne; his dear friend Annette; and by the many caring staff and friends at Community Living Quinte West. Allen was the son of the late Cecil Hood and the late Rita Fleming.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Weaver Family Funeral Home. If desired, memorial donations to Community Living Quinte West would be appreciated. Memories, stories, and condolences may be shared online at www.weaverfuneralhomes.com.
