The Kingston & Area Association of Museums, Art Galleries and Historic Sites (KAM) has announced the launch of the 2026-2027 City of Kingston Heritage Fund. This year, $320,245.09 is available through the City of Kingston Heritage Fund in two different grant streams: operating and project grants. Within the operating stream, two grant categories are available: Large Operating Grants and Small Operating Grants. Within the project stream, two grant categories are available: Community Project Grants and Development Project Grants. Development Project Grants address specific themes related to Kingston’s cultural heritage landscape. For 2026-2027, the Development Project Grant will address the following themes: “Youth Program Development” and “Climate Action.”
The deadline to apply for all 2025-2026 CKHF Grants is Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026 (11:59pm). All information pertaining to the City of Kingston Heritage Fund and the 2026-2027 grant cycle will be posted on the KAM website: www.kingstonmuseums.ca/ckhf.
Those interested in applying are encouraged to attend an Information Webinar about the CKHF 2026-2027 grant cycle. The webinar will be held on Friday July 31st, 2026, from 10:00am to 11:30am. KAM will also be hosting two free Grant Writing webinars. The first webinar will focus on operating grants and will take place on August 4th, 2026. The second webinar will focus on project grants and will take place on August 6th, 2026. Interested participants can register through the KAM website.
The City of Kingston Heritage Fund is entering its fourteenth grant cycle. KAM has administered the heritage fund on behalf of the City of Kingston since its introduction to the Kingston community. “Continued investment in Kingston’s cultural heritage sector is essential to ensuring our museums, archives, galleries, and heritage organizations can adapt, innovate, and serve their communities for years to come. The City of Kingston Heritage Fund provides meaningful support that strengthens the organizations preserving and sharing our collective stories while helping them respond to evolving community needs. This unique heritage funding program reflects the City of Kingston’s ongoing commitment to cultural heritage leadership, innovation, and excellence,” explains Zane Smith, KAM Managing Director.
“Community museums, historic sites, art galleries, and cultural heritage projects are vital to Kingston’s community, tourism, and hospitality sectors. They foster meaningful human connections to our heritage, history, and identity. The City of Kingston Heritage Fund provides a source of funding, helping these organizations and projects boost their profile, capacity, impact, relevance, diversity, and sustainability,” explains Melanie Banks, Manager, Heritage Programming (Heritage Services) at the City of Kingston.
One-on-one IN-PERSON or ZOOM meetings with the Grant Review Officer regarding 2026-2027 CKHF grant applications will be available every Thursday in August, between 10:00am and 3:00pm. Please make an appointment via managing.director@kingstonmuseums.ca
Application packages and guidelines for both the CKHF project and operating grants are available online through the KAM website. Alternate formats are available upon request through the KAM office. All CKHF applications are adjudicated through a community, peer-review process. Successful applicants will be notified in December.
