Barricaded Person
On July 8, 2026, Belleville police attended a call for service at a residence in the city’s west end. It was reported that an individual attended a male’s residence and knocked on the door, however, the male refused to open it and screamed that he had a knife and was going to kill everyone.
Upon police arrival, officers attempted to contact the male. He continued to refuse to open the door and made repeated threats to kill everyone, as he was armed with a knife.
At approximately 3:30 p.m., members of the Belleville Police Emergency Response Unit and negotiators were requested, and containment was established. Negotiators began verbal communication with the male at 4:24 p.m.
At 4:53 p.m., the 41-year-old Belleville man was safely negotiated out of his apartment and into police custody and was transported to a local hospital.
Warrant
On July 8, 2026 at 9:05 a.m., Belleville police responded to a call for service at a business in the area of Moira Street East. Upon arrival, officers observed a female checking door handles at the establishment and spoke with her.
Through investigation, officers learned that the female had an outstanding Belleville Police Service arrest warrant for failure to comply with a probation order.
As a result, Ashley Hubmann, a 41-year-old Belleville woman of no fixed address, was arrested on the strength of the warrant and held for a bail hearing.
Warrants
On July 8, 2026 at 10:19 a.m., Belleville police attended a residence in the city’s west end. Upon arrival, officers observed a male exit the residence who was known to have multiple outstanding Belleville Police Service arrest warrants.
As a result, Michael Zaharko, a 49-year-old Belleville man, was arrested on the strength of the outstanding warrants.
He was later released on an undertaking with a scheduled court date in September.
