Central Hastings OPP have confirmed that the single-vehicle collision that shut down Highway 37 on Tuesday was fatal.
In a release, OPP say they responded to the collision on Highway 37 near Phillipston Road just after 9:30 a.m.
Preliminary investigation by police indicates the driver lost control of the vehicle, which then left the roadway.
The driver was subsequently ejected.
Police say that the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene and has been identified as a 30-year-old resident of Belleville.
A section of Highway 37 remained closed until approximately 4:20 p.m. while members of the OPP conducted their investigation.
The investigation continues with assistance from the OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team.
