Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Quinte region.
The weather agency says it is tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging wind gusts and heavy rain.
They say that local utility outages are likely as well as damage to roofs, fences, soft shelters or trees.
Earlier, Environment Canada had issued a severe thunderstorm watch saying that conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
They say that conditions including wind gusts reaching near 100 km/h, heavy rain that could possibly exceed 30 mm, and up to ping-pong-ball-sized hail are possible.
The bad weather could make its way through this afternoon and continue into the evening.
A heat warning for the region remains in effect.
