Canada’s 159th birthday will finally be here tomorrow, which means that much of the Quinte region is taking the day off to celebrate.
In Belleville, the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre, City Hall, Kinsmen Community Outdoor Pool, Leaf & Yard Waste Depot, Thurlow Landfill, Hazardous and Electronic Waste Depot, Glanmore National Historic Site, and Belleville Public Library will all be closed for the holiday.
Belleville transit will not be operating it’s normal or mobility bus service, however it will be running a special service that stops only at the Quinte Mall, Downtown Terminal, and Zwicks Park. That special service will run from 10:45 am until 10:30 pm.
In Quinte West, the City Hall, Frankford Municipal Office and the Frankford Yard Waste Depot will be closed. Quinte Transit will not be running any transit service.
In Prince Edward County, municipal offices will be closed, along with the Prince Edward Community Centre and the Wellington and District Community Centre. County transit will not be operating.
Several area grocery stores will also be closed for the holiday. In Belleville, McDowell’s Independent, No Frills, Walmart, Metro, and FreshCo are all closed for the statutory holiday. In Trenton, FreshCo, Walmart, Metro, and Smylie’s Independent will also be closed.
All the region’s LCBO locations are closed, along with most Beer Store locations. The Bell Blvd. Beer Store in Belleville will remain open, with reduced hours between 11am and 6pm.
