Local hockey standout Kendall Kolga is making waves on the international stage after being selected for Pro Hockey’s Team Ontario, set to compete in the upcoming War for the Rose tournament next week in Edmonton. The prestigious event will feature the top 2013-born female players from across North America, placing Kolga among the continent’s most promising young athletes.
Kolga plays for the Belleville Bearcats U15AA team. She earned her spot on Team Ontario after being chosen from a highly competitive pool of more than 150 elite players identified during evaluations last summer. In preparation for the War for the Roses, Kolga and her Team Ontario teammates travelled to Boston in May to compete in the renowned Beantown Classic, one of the premier youth hockey showcases. Kolga stood out throughout the tournament, delivering consistent performances that earned her selection to the prestigious All-Tournament Team. Adding to her development, Kolga is also being mentored by respected local hockey icons Hannah Bunton and her partner Melodie Daoust, both of whom have international experience and success at the highest levels of the sport.
