Raymond Henry Scott
August 7, 1932 – June 4, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Scott who left us in his 94th year. He was surrounded by his children and granddaughter at Moira Place in Tweed.
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1932, Raymond was the eldest to his two siblings Malcolm and Hazel. Raymond was the beloved husband for 69 years to Gwyn who predeceased him in February of 2025. Cherished father to daughter, Heather Scott and son, Brian (Deb). Proud grandfather to Ben (Ashley), Thomas (Emily) and Jessica. Great grandfather to Oaklen, Maple, Douglas and Walter.
Before coming to Canada, Ray served as a King Scout in Ireland, reflecting a lifelong commitment to mentorship, learning, and exploring the outdoors.
Ray proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces for 25 years as a senior navigator with the 426 Squadron primarily in Hercules aircraft and an additional 17 years with the Management Study Unit (MSU) at Trenton Air Force Base. His military career took him around the world, allowing him to experience many countries and cultures while serving his adopted country with dedication and professionalism. Following his military career, Ray embraced a quieter life in the countryside, fulfilling a dream of owning and working a farm with Gwyn. He found great satisfaction in rural living and remained active throughout his retirement.
Ray was a man of faith and life-long member and Elder at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Trenton while it was operating. Ray and Gwyn actively attended regular church services at Moira Place Long Term Care Home while they were there, a testament to their faith and love of local community. Ray was also an accomplished model aircraft enthusiast, spending countless hours building and flying model airplanes—a passion he continued to enjoy well into his late eighties.
Ray will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, steady character, love of family, dedication to service, and curiosity about the world. Those who knew him remember his quiet confidence, common sense wisdom, and sharp Irish sense of humour. His legacy lives on through the generations that follow him and through the many lives he touched throughout his long and remarkable journey.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all who shared in his life and helped bring joy and memories to him. A special thanks goes out to the Management, Medical teams and Staff of the Moira Place Long Term Care Home in Tweed, Ontario for their support, friendship and compassion in the past two years.
Visitation will be held at Weaver Funeral Home – East, 29 Bay St. Trenton on June 23rd from 10:30 – 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am. Reception to follow and private family interment will be held at Stockdale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed in Ray Scott’s name to the Nature Conservancy of Canada (www.natureconservancy.ca) to support the permanent protection of Canada’s natural landscapes. Online condolences at www.weaverfuneralhomes.com
