Farmers who would be affected by a proposed high-speed rail system between Toronto and Quebec City want to see the documents that led to the Alto project.
Martin Caron leads a Quebec farmers’ group that’s calling for Ottawa to release the analyses that prompted it to choose high-speed rail over a high-frequency rail option.
Caron argues high-frequency rail would operate at lower speeds but could make more use of existing rail corridors and require less new infrastructure.
His agricultural group is one of several questioning the costs and the potential benefits of high-speed rail.
Multiple Bay of Quinte area municipalities and other groups are against the project.
