Wallace “Lloyd” Crowder passed away with his family by his side at Crown Ridge Place on May 7th 2026; he was 85. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Julia (they were married 66 years), his children Shannon Roberts (late Wyatt), Sheldon Crowder (Cyndi), Sherrie Crowder (Jean Lavergne) and Shawn Crowder (Jacqueline), his grandchildren Mandi Roberts (Creaton Hinds), Ken Roberts, Shayne Roberts (Amanda), Randi Dooley (Dan), Adrian Crowder (Carolyn), Eric Lavergne (Kailey Bertrand), Luc Lavergne, Aleks Crowder (Bailey Taris) and Derrick Crowder, and 13 great grandchildren. Lloyd is also survived by his sister, Joy Fidler. He was predeceased by his parents, Wilfred and Emma Crowder and his younger brother, Mervyn Crowder. He will be missed by many and fondly remembered by all.
Lloyd proudly served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, as an Air Frame Technician. He joined the military at the age of 17, in 1958, and retired as a Master Warrant Officer in 1993. During his time of service he was posted to Vancouver BC (where Shannon was born), Baden-Baden Germany (where Sheldon and Sherrie were born), Moose Jaw SK (where Shawn was born), Trenton ON, Winnipeg MB, and finally back to Trenton ON.
Lloyd was a skilled handyman; he loved to fix/build things. His work was meticulous with a great attention to detail. He had a vast collection of well used tools. He completely renovated two of his homes, and build a third from the ground up. “Julie” designed her dream home; together they found a lot to build on and Lloyd built the home they retired in. There was significant woodwork throughout the house including all the cabinetry and other furnishings. Lloyd was always ready to lend a hand with building, renovating and other projects. While in Winnipeg they attended the Southern Baptist Church; they held their church services in a local school. He became a member of the building committee and was instrumental in the building of their new church. He was involved with the Frankford Free Methodist Church after moving back to Trenton.
Lloyd and Julia became Foster parents in Moose Jaw SK, and took care of more than 20 children for lengthy periods of time, plus many more short term fosters. They were also an emergency drop off and took in special needs children. Two foster children, Linda and Christine, were in their care for several years in SK and moved with them to Ontario. The Crowders continue to consider Linda and Chris to be family.
Lloyd was an avid photographer; he enjoyed taking pictures of family and friends, their travels, nature, their many cats, and was frequently asked to take pictures for people’s weddings.
Lloyd was an absolute cat lover; there were often several in their home at once. His cats, Leo and Libit are still with Julia; Leo visited Lloyd at Crown Ridge Place on a couple of occasions.
In his younger years, Lloyd liked to fish, camp and swim. All three activities were generally enjoyed every summer. Tenting gave way to camping in his converted school bus that could sleep up to 10 people.
In keeping with Lloyd’s wishes, a private ceremony will take place.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Alzheimer Association, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family. Online Guest Book and condolences at Weaver Family Funeral Homes.
