Theory of a Deadman has been one of the workhorses of rock for decades.
The band first began in 1999 and since then has had their hits played millions of times on radio around the world and singles streamed billions of times online.
This summer Theory will be headed to the GTA, the Greater Tweed Area, for Shake the Lake at Stoco Lake Lodge.
Sleeman and Rock 107 are presenting the show on Saturday July 25 and we chatted with lead singer Tyler Connolly.
Connolly says it is amazing how the music industry has changed since they entered the game.
“There’s about 10,000 bands releasing songs this week. We grew up on radio, so we would go to radio stations every day and the bigger the label you were on, the more power they had to get you on the radio. If you got a hit song on the radio, it’s like, holy crap, we did it.”
Later this month the band will be releasing new music, the first in more than two years.
Connolly says those new tracks will be performed on the shorelines of Stoco Lake at Big Ticket Small Town.
Over the decades, Connolly tells us he is seeing multi-generational families coming to the shows.
“We’ll get people in meet-and-greets that say ‘I fell in love with your music because my dad used to play your stuff in the truck.’ Or we’ll have people that come to our show that’ll introduce us to their kid, that was conceived the night of our show.”
