Stunt Driving:
Officers with the Peterborough Police Service issued three stunt-driving tickets on Water Street over the weekend.
At approximately 4 p.m. on April 5, 2026, officers on patrol recorded a vehicle going 99km/hr in a 50km/hr zone in the area Water Street and Marina Boulevard. As a result, an 18-year-old Peterborough man was charged under with stunt driving and speeding. His licence was suspended for 30 days and vehicle impounded for 14 days.
At approximately 3:45 p.m. on April 6, 2026, officers on patrol recorded a vehicle going 91 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone in the area of Water Street and Marina Boulevard. As a result, a 21-year-old Carlisle, ON man was charged with stunt driving and speeding. His licence was suspended for 30 days and vehicle impounded for 14 days.
At approximately 5:10 p.m. on April 6, 2026, officers on patrol recorded a vehicle going 94 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone (picture) in the area of Water Street and Marina Boulevard. As a result, a 30-year-old Lakefield man was charged with stunt driving, speeding and failing to surrender his licence. His licence was suspended for 30 days and vehicle impounded for 14 days.
RIDE Detail:
Officers with the Peterborough Police Service conducted two RIDE details over the weekend.
Officers stopped about 200 vehicles in two locations in the City of Peterborough. They administered four roadside tests. There were no impaired charges laid.
Warrant Arrests
Community-Focused Investigation Response Support Team (FIRST) officers made several warrant arrests over the weekend.
At approximately 10:30 a.m. on April 3, 2026, officers were on patrol in the Stewart Street and McDonnell Street area when they spotted a man wanted on four warrants for assault with a weapon x2, breach of recognizance, fail to attend as per undertaking x2, and fail to comply with appearance notice. As a result, a 40-year-old Peterborough man was taken into custody without incident, held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday court on April 4, 2026.
At approximately 2 p.m. on April 5, 2026, officers were on patrol in the Dalhousie Street and Park Street area when they spotted a man wanted on a warrant for theft under $5000 and failing to comply with probation. When the man saw police he fled, officers followed on foot, caught up to him and took him into custody. Through investigation it was determined the man was also wanted in connection with a theft from a business in March 2026.
As a result, a 38-year-old Otonabee-South Monaghan man was arrested on the strength of the warrant and further charged with theft under $5000 and fail to comply with probation order.
The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday court on Monday, April 6, 2026.
Warrant Arrest:
A 40-year-old Peterborough man wanted on three warrants is facing new charges.
At approximately noon on April 6, 2026, officers on general patrol in the Park Place and Wolfe Street area spotted the man wanted on warrants failing to attend court and failing to comply with a release order and took him into custody. During a search after arrest, officers located 2.7 grams of fentanyl and 8.2 grams of crystal methamphetamine.
As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old Peterborough man was arrested on the strength of the warrants and further charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl
The accused is being held in custody and will appear in court today, April 7, 2026.
