Board Chair Kramp on Monday evening.
“On March 10th, 2026, the Ontario Divisional Court released its ruling regarding the judicial review that was initiated against HPDSB. The court upheld the board’s decisions concerning the two code of conduct violations. This affirmed that processes were reasonable, unbiased, and compliant with provincial standards. The court’s decision is a public document. A component of this decision was the court upholding the board’s procedures and expectations of confidentiality. Specific documents will remain sealed and the board maintains that protecting the integrity of these records is part of good governance, which is supported by the Education Act and the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. While this ruling validated the integrity of board governance, HPEDSB received notice last week that Trustee Prinzen has filed a motion seeking Leave to Appeal this decision. As this litigation is initiated by an individual trustee and not the board, there is a fiduciary responsibility to defend the validity of our processes. The board is disappointed by this further litigation and looks forward to its conclusion.”
The fees for HPEDSB for the legal battle, including Code of Conduct complaints submitted to the Integrity Commissioner (to date), are around $175,000.
Trustee Ernie Parsons asked the board how much those fees benefitted students.
