Local high school students will protest the provincial government’s changes to the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP).
Nicholson Catholic College student Anna Baldwin Powell says students will leave several Belleville schools for a rally on Tuesday in Market Square.
A time for the rally has not yet been set.
Doug Ford’s government has changed the OSAP program to make 75 per cent of the money available to students in the form of loans and 25 per cent in the form of grants.
Currently, 85 per cent of the money is in grant form and only 15 per cent loans.
Students say the changes will make many students unable to receive a post-secondary education.
