Vandervoort, William “Bill” John Drexel passed away peacefully at Westgate Lodge in Belleville on February 22, 2026 at the age of 90 years. Born in Powell River, British Columbia, Bill lived a full and dedicated life marked by service, family, and lasting relationships.
Beloved husband of Catheryn Vandervoort, married for almost 66 wonderful years. Bill met Catheryn at Shaughnessy Hospital in British Columbia, where she was working as a physiotherapist during a stopover in Vancouver while travelling from Australia to England. It was a chance meeting that grew into a lifelong partnership.
Bill served his country with great pride and distinction in the Canadian Armed Forces for 43 years, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer. His long and dedicated service was marked by unwavering commitment, leadership, and a deep sense of duty.
Loving father to Mark Vandervoort (Patti), Jay Vandervoort (Deb), Michael Vandervoort (Lisa) and Jennifer Vandervoort – Purtelle (Scott Jenkins). Cherished grandfather of Kathryn Vandervoort, Matthew Vandervoort, Drexel Purtelle, Georgia Ferguson (Weston), Liam Vandervoort and Kierin Vandervoort. Great grandfather to Theodore Ferguson.
Loving brother to Donald Vandervoort (Judy). Bill is predeceased by his parents Walter & Ann Vandervoort and sister Betty Stevens.
