A report on the fiscal impact of housing bills implemented by the provincial government will be brought to the future roundtable between Belleville council and local MPPs.
That decision was made as part of an amendment brought forward by councillor Paul Carr at Belleville’s council meeting on Monday.
According to a report put together by city staff, the City of Belleville has a net revenue loss of over $7.4 million since the implementation of provincial housing bills beginning in 2023 and into 2025.
As part of the amendment, a copy of the report would be sent to Ontario’s Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing, requesting that the City of Belleville be provided with the total funds lost as a result of provincial housing bills.
The full report and breakdown can be found at the City of Belleville’s website.
The roundtable with MPPs Tyler Allsopp and Ric Bresee was scheduled to take place on February 17 but was officially postponed less than an hour before the meeting was set to begin.
No new date has been set for the roundtable.
