John Fraser, interim leader of the Ontario Liberal Party says while his party was able to regain official party status in the last election, there is much more work to do.
Fraser recently appeared on the Lorne Brooker Show on CJBQ with guest host Tim Durkin.
Gaining status has allowed his Liberal colleagues to travel the province more to push the Liberal agenda.
He says his party has to provide a clear alternative to what’s happening in the province right now.
“You know the government’s not focussing on the things that matter most like our schools, our hospitals, affordability. You know, the government spends more time telling us what a good job it’s doing as opposed to doing the things that need to be done.”
Fraser says the Progressive Conservative Party could offer ways to make life more affordable for people but refuses to do it.
He notes that writing a $200 cheque for voters as the Ford government did during the last election doesn’t cut it.
“People aren’t looking for everything but what they want is they want just, I’d like to see that you know that I’m here and that you’re doing something to help me out. And you don’t see that with this government. They talk about it, you know, an election comes up and the premier’s writing $200 cheques. That’s not lasting and permanent.”
Fraser notes the Liberals have been asking the government for things like taking the provincial portion of the HST off home heating bills or offering a sports credit for families.
