The blast of cold arctic air has brought with it a new record low temperature for the Quinte region.
The weather station at CFB Trenton recorded a low temperature of -29.3 degrees Celsius at 6 a.m. on Saturday.
This beats the previous record for January 24, which was -28.9 degrees Celsius, set in 1948.
An Environment Canada cold weather warning remains in effect for the region, with residents advised to cover up or remain indoors to avoid hypothermia or frostbite.
