Marmora and Lake will once again ask the province’s Ministry of Transportation what can be done about some traffic calming measures along Highway 7 through the village to help pedestrians cross the street.
Currently, the only crosswalk is located at the lights at the intersection of Highway 7 and Stirling-Marmora Road.
A concerned resident spoke to council this week asking for another safe and accessible crossing.
Mayor Jan O’Neil says it’s a request they’ve heard before.
“We have done delegations in the past with the MTO and requested a crosswalk and it has been denied. That stretch of the road is a connecting link and so we can’t do anything mechanical without their approval.”
Council passed a motion to ask the MTO to see if there are any other options besides mechanical-type treatments.
