Prince Edward County OPP has confirmed their new permanent detachment commander.
Staff Sergeant Jeff MacKinnon, who had been serving as interim detachment commander, has accepted the role on a permanent basis. He had been interim detachment commander since May 2025.
“It is a privilege and an honour to serve as Detachment Commander for Prince Edward County,” said Mackinnon. “Effective policing cannot be achieved in isolation. Meaningful collaboration with community partners is essential to understanding local priorities and addressing what matters most to the people we serve.”
Staff Sergeant MacKinnon began his career with the OPP in 1995, first transferring to the Prince Edward County detachment in 2000. He transferred to the Bancroft detachment in 2008, and became detachment commander there in 2018 with his promotion to staff sergeant.
