A portion of County Road 40 in Quinte West remains closed following a head-on collision during snowy conditions Wednesday afternoon.
Quinte West emergency crews were called to the area of County Road 40 and Highway 2 just before 1 p.m.
Occupants in both vehicles had to be extricated with the jaws of life.
Four people were taken to hospital though the extent of their injuries isn’t known at this time.
County Road 40 is closed from Highway 2 south to English Settlement Road.
There have been several collisions around the region.
Just after 1:30 p.m., Quinte West emergency crews also responded to a single-vehicle collision in the area of Foxboro-Stirling Road and Oak Lake Road.
Belleville police say Cannifton Road North was briefly closed between Maitland Drive and Tank Farm Road following a collision.
A utility pole was struck and hydro lines were affected.
It was anticipated the road would be closed for a few hours, but in an update, police say the required work was less extensive than initially anticipated and the road was quickly reopened.
Northumberland OPP also report multiple collisions on Highway 401 this afternoon.
The region remains under a snowfall warning.
