Organizers of the Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign estimate that this year’s drive remains about $100,000 short of its goal.
This year’s goal is $365,000 but with these financially trying times, that target may be out of reach.
Christmas campaign coordinator Richard Smith says they are still calculating the final numbers and continue to accept donations.
It will have to be determined how they will continue to provide their services if they don’t reach their goal.
“We feed 4,000 people a month. I don’t see that changing. Well, it’s not going to change number-wise, but hopefully we’ll be able to continue to do that and provide the services that we do.”
A shortage in donations may also affect their food bank and clothing operations for those in need.
Donations can be made online, over the phone (613-968-6834 ext 27) or dropped off at the Salvation Army Ministries at 290 Bridge Street West, Belleville.
