Members of the Peterborough County OPP have made an arrest bringing a rash of thefts to conclusion.
On November 21, 2025 shortly after 9:30a.m., a Peterborough County OPP officer was dispatched to a report of a tractor that had been stolen from a location on Highway 7 just east of Highway 28 in the township of Otonabee-South Monaghan. The tractor, a 2013 John Deere, was last seen on November 20, 2025. On November 22, 2025, officers recovered the tractor after it had been abandoned by the individual driving it.
On November 22, 2025 shortly after 9:30 p.m., a Northumberland OPP officer was dispatched to a report of a break and enter that occurred at a business located on Front Street in Hastings. On-site security footage showed an individual break the door, enter and then leave with property belonging to the store.
On November 23, 2025 at approximately 5 a.m., Peterborough County OPP received a call for service regarding an alarm at a business on Buckhorn Road in Selwyn Township. Officers arrived on scene to find a door had been broken and the alarm was still sounding. A review of the security footage showed an individual arrive in a school bus, break the door and enter the business. A sum of money was determined to have been taken.
On November 23, 2025 just prior to 9 a.m., Peterborough County OPP were advised that a school bus had been located in Peterborough City. Through investigation, it was determined to have been stolen earlier from a business on Highway 7 in the Otonabee-South Monaghan Township. The recovered vehicle was returned to the business.
On November 23, 2025 at approximately 1:30 p.m., Peterborough County OPP received a call reporting a break and enter at a business located on Sand Road in Asphodel-Norwood Township. The security footage was reviewed showing an individual enter a building on the property then leave with items belonging to the business.
On December 9, 2025, members of the OPP Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit located the individual identified in all the related occurrences at a residence in the City of Peterborough. The accused was arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment.
David Plumley (age 62) of Peterborough was arrested and charged with;
• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – two counts
• Flight from peace officer
• Operation while prohibited
• Theft over $5,000
• Mischief under $5,000 – two counts
• Theft under $5,000 – two counts
• Break, enter a place – commit indictable offence – two counts
• Mischief – destroys or damages property
The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
